A Response to Columbine
This event was created in response to the tragic shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Fears were heightened and emotions stirred as the community sought to understand how this could have happened, how it might have been prevented, and how to heal the many wounds. Resources were provided on the website, such as contact information for crime prevention organizations, groups preventing abuse and improving child care, and youth councils, as well as classroom resources for teaching tolerance.
Design Reflects Social Actions
The website design follows this theme of community and variety of interaction. Along the top of most pages, photo panels highlight people of varying age, sex and race. Demonstrating the randomness of social interaction, these photos change every time a user positions a mouse over them. Each new photo is selected randomly from a larger collection of images.
